“And thou I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have no love, it profits me nothing.”
1 Corinthians 13.3
History of Agape Foundation
The Agape Foundation for Children, is a Christian orphanage and kindergarden (nursery school) in Pascani, North East Romania. Its purpose is to care for orphans and poor children by sharing christian family values. We aim to develop all our children in obedience to God’s word and Biblical teachings to enabling them to have a fulfilled, relevant and integrated life in society after they leave the Agape family home.
We believe that all children are entitled to help in overcoming the traumatic and critical moments in their lives. This includes working with social service agencies to receive spiritual, moral, cultural and developmental support that ensures our children never loose their smile.
The Agape foundation started in 1989 after a spirit-filled group of christians were led to help children in need.
Agape became known to many supporters whom have a heart to reach out and recognize the urgent need to assist with this ministry and give all our children a new start and chance in life. These supporters are from both Romania and other countries.
This vision led, over a 4 year period, to the conversion of a suitable building into the modern, comfortable Agape family home. The final touches to the building were completed in 1994 and includes both the orphanage and kindergarden.
Key to the vision was the ministry of the kindergarden. This aims in offer an effective christian witness in the town and to integrate the orphans into society and avoid social isolation and stigma.
Well-known personalities touched by the problem of the children in Romania included Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand. They themselves spent many years in communist prisons because of their christian beliefs. Through the organization they were in charge of, International Christian Association (ICA), Agape received important help both to building and develop the home. Further on-going help was received towards building and supporting orphans with special needs from The Humanitarian Organization Grenlandsaksjonen Norway. Today, funding is scarce and the Agape Christian Foundation For Children needs urgent help and support. Please prayerfully consider getting involved! We trust that God, in whose hand all things are, will take care of us in the future as He has in the past.
“Love suffers long and kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil.”
